Great Treat with Scotch

Sunday, April 25, 2010 Review by judywrites

Simple appetizer to serve with cocktails… particularly Scotch!

  • 1 box frozen artichoke hearts
  • 4 – 6 slices bacon, cut in half (depending on the number of artichoke hearts in the box)
  • onion salt

Cook the frozen artichoke hearts per package directions until crisp-tender. Drain well and sprinkle lightly with onion salt.

Wrap one half strip of bacon around each artichoke heart and secure with a toothpick. Broil, turning to brown, until bacon is done.

Eat and enjoy!

Take care,

Reader Question – Bacon + Scotch + Oatmeal

Friday, April 16, 2010 Review by Andrew

This morning we had a question from one of our readers (who strangely asked to remain anonymous) –

“Hey, great website. I’m looking for confirmation that a recipe for oatmeal mixed with crumbled bacon and scotch exists. You seem like a natural resource for this kind of stuff. Have you ever heard of such a wonderful breakfast, and do you have a recipe?”

Well, although we have extensive insider knowledge about the BaconScotch Industry, this is a new one to us! Our helpful reader pointed us to this NYT article Q&A With Sam Sifton. To find the reference to bacon+scotch+oatmeal, scroll to the very bottom of the article. We did some searching, but sadly the closest we could come to a recipe was this – Irish Oatmeal, Bacon and Cheddar Souffle. Just add a nice glass of Scotch and you have a classy version of what Mr. Sifton was describing.

If someone has an alternate or more authentic recipe for Bacon Oatmeal with Scotch, please let us know. As always, we welcome your questions, comments, and general feedback.

We Love BaconScotch!
